New cellphone
After more then a month carefully choosing my new cellphone, I choose none of the candidates.
Instead I went with the Sony Ericsson w580i, which actually belongs to the same family as the S500i but has walkman capabilities, and most importantly doesn’t have a fame of cracking the keyboard after less then a week use.
Technically speaking the W580i is an EDGE cellphone that fits my previously mentioned requirements: slide form factor, bluetooth, high-speed modem and costed less then 300€. From the pack of candidate cellphones the grey version of the W580i is also IMHO the most beautiful of them all. So all said I think I did a good buy, but only time will tell as I had only the weekend to test it.

Why do you need an EDGE cellphone in portugal? I think none of Portuguese operators has edge… You should be looking for a HSDPA phone..

Graça: You got a point there, but the thing is HSDPA drains all your battery… and coverage is not that good… The reason for EDGE is that it’s coverage is much better and so is battery life. Although none of the operators _currently_ offer EDGE, the iPhone agreement (with whichever operator is made) will require at least one of the operators to deploy it.

I don´t really think they will deploy EDGE just because of iphone, actually i don´t think iphone will sell much in portugal(we use pre-pay cards), and because of that, i dont think operators will spend millions on edge, i think its btter to expand hsdpa coverage…

Eu queria esse! Mas a Optimus não tinha na loja. Já o vi ao vivo (em branco) e é muito bonito e tem um ecrâ excelente. O teclado não me pareceu frágil nesse primeiro e curto contacto.
Apesar disso tive desconto com os pontos no meu w660, por isso foi do mal o menos.
