Any now and then, one ends up needing to provide a Curriculum Vitae AKA Résumé (CV).

Either for applying for a job or just to be used to assert your credentials (for example while running for project fundings), you always end up needing an updated CV.
So what do most people do ?
Of course there are other options
One of such options (and my favourite) is to use an industry standard XML specification to provide your CV.
My first contact with HR-XML was through a friend that is(was) developing the University Curriculum Vitae Editing/Management System [http://curriculum.ua.pt/]. Ultimately I used the university system to generate the first version of my CV, and from then on I “simply” edit the file and add any new reference.
The lack of an editing tool is nonetheless the most important aspect limiting the mainstream adoption of this standard. But with so many developers around (hint
)…
I’ve recently reach a position in DETI as a Teaching Assistant.

It will amongst other things be my first actual “job”, with pension plans and social security and an actual pay check instead of the schoolarship I used to receive from FCT.
But this also means I will from now on be spending a greater part of my time preparing classes, and of course teaching…It’s not that I don’t enjoy teaching (which I’ve learn to like in the past year or two) but the time it will consume will most probably mean that I’ll take longer to finnish my thesis
Oh well… this is life
PS: By the way… I guess several of my students will go by this page at least once
. So don’t fear me, and drop a comment
This marvelous post : Trust_Me,_I’m_A_Doctor, made me realize how much of this nonsense I sometimes listen from people (regardless of what their profession his).
Everyone is an electrician, a plumber or a mechanic, then why do we need those people? Of course, its for those times that we realize we are not an electrician, a plumber or a mechanic…
If it is that simple for people to realize their limitations and the added-value of some professions, why is it so difficult to understand that by owning a computer you don’t auto magically become a Computer Engineer/Scientist?
