Tech advices

Today I was shopping in an unnamed large electronics store when I inadvertedly overeard a talk between the clerk and a costumer trying to buy a network solution for his house.
The clerk pointed out a linksys N router as a way for the costumer to get good coverage in all his house without questioning the costumer whether his laptop had 802.11n or not, or if his ISP equipment had an Ethernet interface or not…

This was not the first time I eavesdropped on a similar solution, and I bet most of you have had a similar experience.

The lack of tech training in such clerks mines the company own porpose of serving it’s costumer.

Yes that sometimes happens, but it depends to which store you go, i have friends that work in those kind of stores, and they tell me that normally they are submitted to an interview to see if they have what it takes to get the job done.
Most of them come from technological courses, but like everything else, no system is perfect…

Most of the times, the problem comes from the client, not the clerk.. I remember once in a shop that i usually gave some help with the clients, i had to explain to a client that method of unzipping a file from a ZIP archive could not be applied to a DivX file…
The worst problem is when stupidity tags along, were the client starts repeating himself like if it was a scratch disk… “But can’t i simple open the divx file and decompress the DVD movie… But can’t i…”

Oh well… check this out -> http://notalwaysright.com/
